In the morning we went to see Changing the Guards ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace. Well, the ceremony was scheduled for the next day, but we didn't get the memo. Anyway, we had a chance to loiter outside Buckingham and watch the other guards.
Guards need their own guards
Pre-cursor to socialist realism: Worker and Peasant with lions ?
It doesn't take much to make me happy
From Buckingham Palace we went to Tate Britain Museum (note for the future - after Louvre one needs to be very selective).
Later that day we attended the debates in the House of Commons (unfortunately only UK residents can climb Big Ben!). The procedure to get in is very straightforward - you fill a simple application, they take your picture and then issue a temporary pass. Here is The Waiting Hall.
Well, listening of the debates was definitely the highlight of the day. The debates were about Gaza and I must say the tone of the discussion was very different from the one in the USA. Here are the link and another one for one of the speeches (warning - may be offensive for some people!). Overall, the culture of debates is also very different from US House Senate. Apparently, "Hon" and "My Honourable Friend" are two most used phrases.
By the end of the day I felt better after taking Advil (?) for several days every two hours. Unfortunately, Dan picked up cold from me and struggled with it for the rest of the trip.
