London, Jan 16

The previous night we went to The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre. That was a first class performance, highly recommended! The production is now in its 23rd year and theater was almost full. Despite all the hoopla about discount tickets, it seemed that every discount ticket outlet sold more expensive tickets than the ones we bought directly at the theater.
The next day whistling the songs from The Phantom we finally made it to Change of Guards ceremony at the Buckingham Palace! Well, without a glass of vodka one can't figure it out - there were too many changes of guards to make sense of that elaborate ceremony. There is more than one center of activity with guards coming from several directions.
At some moment the actors started repeating their moves and we left. At St. James' Park adjoining the Palace we were stopped by two uniformed policemen. Apparently London police was randomly checking documents - Ausweis Kontrolle. They we were almost apologetic - "It would be fantastic if you have a passport or driver's license with you".
