Kyoto (more)

I started my day at Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion). Despite its name the pavilion was never covered in silver as planned as opposed to Golden Pavilion. Frankly, I was more impressed with the gardens, both moss and dry sand than the pavilion itself.

I then followed Philosopher's Path along a cherry-tree-lined canal from Ginkaku-ji to Nanzen-ji stopping at several temples and a shrine along the way.

I had a decent lunch (still learning how to use chopsticks - apparently good chopsticks can make a difference!), though I am not sure what exactly I ate.

Modern (1895) temple - Heian Shrine was built to boost the morale after the capital was moved to Tokyo.
Another huge gate - Sanmon in Chion-in Temple.
